This is my second pair of Jones MTB boots, and the improvements made for 17-18 deserve 5 stars IMO. I really appreciated the added customization provided by the arch support, flex control and heal hold. Obviously the walk-mode is the best feature - adding comfort on the uptrack. These boots held up well over ~100 days of riding and touring. My one hope for future versions is 32 will continue to shave off weight and bulk while still keeping construction bomber.
From mountaineering, split boarding to deep pow slashes, the Jones MTB has all the technology for the ultimate back country boot. Upgraded with the new heat moldable Elite liner with energy foam providing consistently smooth flax and support that won't break down. Scout the terrain and adjust boot stiffness on the fly with all the new recoil flex control. Hike with confidence on the crampon compatible Vibram outsole, while taking longer strides skinning the walk mode collar.

This is a really good freeride boot, I have a difficult foot with a high bridge and weird ankles but this boot gives you a ton of custimisation options to adapt to your foot.. Mind you it takes some time to make it "your" boot so give it a couple of days as it's very stiff at first but once you have it adapted it really works. I open the Stride Boa to get into the boot, I tighten the boot lace first, just tight enough and then I finish the job with the Boa. It's problably not what it was designed for but that really works for me. It's the first time a boot combines comfort and proper ankle gripping. oh and I used it with Crampons, worked really well, so you can add that with the Split board extras this boot has to offer, Good Job Thirtytwo & Mr.Jones !
These boots are super comfy right out of the box and provide a solid medium flex that I definitely prefer. They have proven extremely comfy on long days hiking in "walk mode" and even on normal days on the lift. I've given these boots a three star rating due to the fact that if you purchase these boots you are guaranteed to be stranded one day with broken BOA lacing. I've replaced mine twice now (one on each boot that is) and I'm pretty much over dealing with the dependability of these boots. Not to mention, I couldn't get any help from my local shop with replacing the BOA lacing, due to the high price of the boot they didn't want to touch them. If you're looking for an all around great boot I would recommend a Jones model without "walk mode".
I have two long days in the backcountry with these boots so far, the boots have been amazingly comfortable after just one heat set no sore toenails after hours of skinning. The boots handle like hard boots on side hills and comfortably surf the powder turns on the downhill. And my feet were dry at the end of the day. Very happy with the purchase. I was considering switching to AT boots and bindings now there is no need these boots do the trick.
No days on em yet but the improvements of the last years boots are sweet! The breathability or the new liner is genius! Really excited to have custom arch supports as well! Can’t wait to put some days in above 12000’.
